Software architect position in a large company
Location: In person, at the ÉTS campus, Montreal
Description:
Training provided by Elapse Technologies in collaboration with ÉTS.
With the advent of agility, we no longer know when or how to do software architecture, especially when it seems that the user and their Product Owner (PO) don’t seem to know what they want or constantly change their minds.
Should we do a sprint 0? Should we abandon architecture activities? What is architecture when delivering in small increments ranging from a few hours to a few weeks? What is my role as an architect or designer?
This training reframes the role of the architect/designer in a volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA) context. Through a shift-right approach, it provides insights that enable useful and evidence-based architectural activities downstream, as opposed to exhaustive upfront designs (Big Design Up Front, BDUF). It aims to dispel some misconceptions about architecture and aims to place architecture stakeholders in a position to help their team deliver a quality solution that adds value for the user, as they discover their needs and non-functional requirements.
